We at Nine5Four welcome our new “Director of Creative Content Development”, John Robert Banks. Better known in the industry as BANK$. Bank$ has contributed a lot to our strong family here at Nine5Four Magazine and we are forever thankful. Please read BANK$’s Biography written in first person.
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey 1982, it was easy to see to the people around me that music would be one of the greatest influences in my life. As just a baby I could be found bouncing up and down to the “Thriller” album in my crib, as a boy I could be found dipping my ears in all flavors of music from George Michaels, Guns N’ Roses, to LL cool J. It was clear to my parents that I could not easily be influenced to listen to only one genre of music. Every time my parents made me mad I would blast “parents just don’t understand” as loud as it could go, so I could make a statement, which stays true to this day. As the 90’s rolled around I was still hand and foot deep into whatever music I could get my hands on. After school my friends and I would spend our afternoons blaring music from our speakers with classics like “Baby Got Back”, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” to my one of my personal favorites “Ice, Ice Baby”. The hours I’ve completely lost myself in music studying every part of the art, from Lyrical structure, to the way the bass and drums work, to guitar solos etc are uncountable. My strong relationship with music made me appreciate all forms of the art and throughout my High School career I could be found with headphones on my head and a pencil in my hand. In 03’ I got a degree in Graphic Design from Keiser College and even in graphical art my musical influences could be found in my work. In 2006 my close friend Dawn aka DAWNdada began a working relationship with the “G Inc” record label. DAWNdada then recruited me to help her promote her artists and their music. Today I am “Director of Creative Content Development” for Nine5Four Magazine. I actively search for Unsigned Talent to form articles for our Magazine. I also do my own part to promote independent artists, actors, models, and new businesses. I find myself venturing into different artistic fields but will always keep true to my first love, music. With the help of friends and family my future has never been brighter. I look forward to what embraces me ahead. Shout out to my best friend, Dawndada.com, the amazing staff at Glam Hair Miami, and my new family at Nine5Four Magazine.
